Safe Cookware
I love the minimalist OurPlace cookware. The brand is popular for using only ethically sourced, 100% toxin-free materials to create beautiful long-lasting ceramic cookware pieces. And they are multifunctional. So you can do a lot with one piece. (Bye, cabinet clutter!)
TLDR: For the longest time I only focused on sourcing the best ingredients (organic, non-gmo etc) for cooking and never thought about what cookware I used daily or the cookware my delivered food was cooked in. Traditional non-stick pans contain harmful chemicals that leach into our food and cause health implications and environmental impact.
If you’re a minimalist and a conscious consumer, this is a find.
Lymphatic Cleanse tea strips
Lemon, honey and hot water have been my morning detox constants since I was 12. When I travel, I often don’t have access to honey or fresh lemons. At a lymphatic drainage massage I was introduced to these lymphatic cleanse “tea strips“ by Olyxir which have been an amazing replacement.
TLDR: These contain Guarana (a Brazilian native plant) which stimulates the lymphatic system, along with matcha which stimulates collagen production, lemon balm, ginger and peppermint which tastes soothing first thing in the morning.
Also why tea strips? Traditional tea bags create post consumer waste. Chemicals from the bag-processing introduce micro + nano plastics into the environment. Tea strips are a carbon neutral way to enjoy benefits of tea. And they come in many flavors.
Mud Wtr
Contains 35g of caffeine (compared to a cup of coffee which is 95mg of caffeine). When I went on a coffee-detox, Mud Wtr gave me just enough of a caffeine boost for a work day.
Packed with adaptogenic mushrooms (see below) and masala chai. I like the earthy flavor. I find it grounding sipping it in my favorite clay mug while sitting under the morning light before starting my day.
TLDR: From what I've read, there is some research into the health benefits of adaptogenic mushrooms, but the evidence is still fairly limited. Some of the most well-studied mushrooms are lion's mane, cordyceps, and reishi mushrooms (incl in MudWtr). These mushrooms have been shown to have potential benefits for the immune system, energy levels, and cardiovascular health. Can’t lose.
Adaptogenic Coffee
Made with organic Arabica Coffee, organic Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps and Chaga mushrooms. Disclaimer: 110mg caffeine (yikes)
When I’m on my caffeine consumption phase again, I stick with lavender lattes when I’m feeling adventurous or make myself an adaptogenic earthy coffee drink at home. My favorite so far is Om Mushroom Latte.
I mix it in almond milk or coconut creamer. Even though there’s creamer in it, it’s not milky enough for me. I need a bit more.
SpoiledChild E27 Extra Strength Liquid Collagen
I’ve been through quite a few collagen supplements. None have worked for me as well as this one: it stopped my cravings completely, improved my digestion and gut health, my hair and nails grew faster and skin felt more plump. Only con is it’s a bit pricey esp since the Mango flavor is divine, I finish the month’s supply in a week.
Contains bovine collagen Types I and III, which from what I have read covers gut and skin health primarily so my experience checks out.
PS needs to be refrigerated after opening.
Brain Fuel
Made with Royal Jelly + Bacopa Monnieri + Ginkgo Biloba
As someone with ADHD who needs a little help now and then, and also doesn’t like being on stimulants every day. This is a great supplement for those drug-free days. It actually helps me focus (although see TLDR for research notes. Gist: The research isn’t conclusive as for most supplements out there anyway, but it really works quiet well on me).
TLDR: Some of the claimed health benefits of royal jelly include improved immune function, enhanced skin health, increased energy, and potential anti-inflammatory effects. However, the available research on these benefits is generally sparse and often of low quality. Most of the studies have been conducted on animals or in vitro (in a laboratory setting), making it challenging to extrapolate the findings to human health.
Ginkgo biloba is derived from the leaves of the Ginkgo tree and used in traditional medicine for various purposes, particularly for cognitive function and circulatory health. The scientific evidence supporting the use of Ginkgo biloba for various health benefits is mixed and often not strong or consistent.
Bacopa monnieri has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, primarily for its potential cognitive-enhancing and memory-improving properties. The research on Bacopa monnieri is still developing, and results are mixed. Some studies show positive effects, while others do not. Additionally, individual responses to the herb may vary.
